Been thinking for a while to start writing a blog. I have a few friends who do it already. Then there are those who at certain times have advised me to do it too, but lazy as I am, I had not started posting till today.
Nevertheless here I am with my first blog.
Now to a few things which prompted me to start. The first one is that today I am probably rich by a few thousand rupess (still not sure if salary has been disbursed). I am happy anyways. Secondly there is not much to do around here. I was sharing a joke with a few of my friends the other day, "the salary that they pay us this month should go down as CSR activity", as we have made only a negative impact to the bottom line so far. Last but by no means the least, it was the headlines in the newspapers today that triggered me into action.
By now we all know that Osama Bin Laden has been killed in an operation by US military forces. CONGRATULATIONS to the whole world. While this does not bring back any of the innocent people killed by terrorists around the world but surely somewhere it does make you believe that justice can be served.
This is exactly what got me thinking. India and Indians have been targeted by separatist organisations since few decades now. Yet we have not taken any strong steps to bring the guilty to justice. Even after the much condemned Mumbai attacks we have not been able to serve justice on those responsible.
But good samaritans that we are we rejoice the success, no matter where it comes from and whoever achieves it. While doing that we choose to ignore problems in our own backyard. Two most important which come to my mind are the tragedy associated with Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and the alleged bombing of the car of Major General in Jammu and Kashmir.
We already have had a bombing in Udhampur (Jammu). While we celebrate death of the man most wanted by US officials, we should not forget that those who have wronged our society are still at large and capable of harming us.
I also cannot help but wonder at the timing of this great victory. Recently media was abuzz with news of Pakistan backstabbing United States of America. It was alleged that Pakistan no longer had the trust in the might of US and had decided to sit in the lap of Peoples Republic of China and had tried to take Afghanistan along. This was followed by ISI's chiefs visit to US. It seems that Pakistan fearing a backlash, read withdrawal of money infusion by US, has decided to gift the head of Osama on a platter to its friend.
Having recently rejected US companies Boeing and Lockheed Martin in the mother of all defence deals, this development should Indian authorities should now think about our position in this complex maze.
